Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 11, 2026
1. Introduction
Golexo is a vocabulary learning application developed by Rachid NADIR. We are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what your rights are.
2. Data Collected
2.1 Data stored locally
Golexo works primarily offline. The following data is stored only on your device:
- User profiles (name, avatar, preferences)
- Learning progress and statistics
- Custom vocabulary lists
- Collections and favorites
- App preferences (language, theme, notifications)
This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
2.2 Data transmitted to our servers
Some optional features communicate with our servers:
- Downloadable themes: when you browse or download additional vocabulary themes, a request is sent to our server.
- Collection sharing: if you share a collection, its content is temporarily stored on our server to enable link sharing.
- Audio: pronunciation files are downloaded from our server.
We do not collect any personal identifiers during these exchanges. An anonymous device identifier may be used for statistical purposes.
2.3 Anonymous analytics
To understand how the app is used and improve it, we collect anonymous usage data via PostHog (hosted in the EU):
- Screen views and onboarding step transitions
- Game completion (game type, score, duration)
- App version, device type, operating system (aggregate level)
No personal identifier is sent — no name, no email, no profile ID. The IP address is not retained on the server. Each install is associated with an anonymous random identifier that cannot be linked back to you.
You can disable this analytics at any time in Settings > Privacy > Anonymous analytics.
2.4 Payment data
Subscriptions are managed by Apple's App Store. We do not have access to your payment information (credit card, etc.). Apple handles the entire billing process.
2.5 Advertising and ad performance measurement
To support our marketing and reach new learners, Golexo includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK. On iOS, the system displays an App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether you allow Golexo to track your activity for advertising purposes.
- If you accept: your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Google Advertising ID on Android) is collected and shared with Meta together with the events listed below.
- If you decline (or use limit ad tracking on Android): the same events are sent without your advertising identifier and are used only for aggregate measurement (Apple's SKAdNetwork).
Events shared with Meta:
- App install, app open, app session
- Onboarding completion
- Game completion (game type and score, no answer content)
Meta uses this data to measure ad campaign performance, show Golexo to people who may be interested, and produce aggregate insights. We never send your name, email, profile contents, or learning history to Meta.
You can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Golexo (iOS), or by disabling personalized ads in Settings → Google → Ads (Android). For details on Meta's processing, see Meta's Privacy Policy.
3. Use of Data
Collected data is used exclusively to:
- Operate the application and its features
- Improve the quality of content offered
- Enable collection sharing between users
We do not sell, rent, or share any personal data with third parties.
4. Voice Recognition
Speaking mode uses the voice recognition built into your device (Apple Speech Recognition). Voice data is processed by Apple in accordance with their privacy policy. We do not store any voice recordings.
5. Camera and Photos
The OCR scan feature uses the camera or photo library to extract text from images. Images are neither stored nor transmitted to our servers. Processing is done entirely on your device.
6. Notifications
Golexo may send local notifications to remind you to practice or alert you about your streak. These notifications are managed locally on your device. No notification tokens are sent to our servers.
7. User Rights
In accordance with GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: your data is on your device, you have access to it at any time.
- Right to deletion: you can delete your data by uninstalling the app or resetting your profile in settings.
- Right to portability: collections can be exported and shared.
8. Security
Communications with our servers are encrypted via HTTPS. Local data is protected by iOS security mechanisms.
9. Children
Golexo can be used by children for language learning. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age.
